Construction Site Safety Technician

The Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) credential is designed for industry safety professionals, company safety officers, current site safety coordinators, experienced craftsmen, or foremen seeking to improve safety knowledge and skills. The CSST is appropriate for an experienced craft professional seeking a path into the safety profession.

CSST’s are responsible for overseeing safety fundamentals from training staff, to implementing steps to prevent accidents, to inspecting daily safety procedures. These professionals have communication and leadership skills and when incidents do occur, site safety technicians help with the investigation, file company reports, and immediately correct issues.

The Construction Site Safety Technician credential is considered the most advanced of the NCCER construction safety certifications, hence commanding higher salaries for construction workers who may or may not have a college degree, but have construction experience. However, the credential does not require experience, degrees, or even NCCER Core Curriculum.

Estimated base average salary in 2019: $67,720

The training is 100 hours including homework assignments, case studies, and field exercises. Initially, the course will be delivered in a two-week, in-person and online format.
