About the PET Plant

The Process Equipment Technology (PET) Plant represents a remarkable example of industry-education collaboration. When BASF recognized an opportunity to advance technical training, they made an extraordinary commitment: dismantling a three-story distillation unit from their Geismar facility and relocating it to RPCC's Gonzales campus. This generous contribution has transformed how students learn in our Process Technology, Instrumentation & Electrical Technology, and Customized Industry Training programs. 

Rather than learning from textbooks alone, students now work with actual industrial equipment, gaining practical experience in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The unit allows instructors to create realistic scenarios that mirror the challenges students will face in their future careers. To add, we provide professional training to local businesses to enhance safety, production, and reduce training cost for various companies.
