River Parishes Community College (RPCC) Foundation is proud to announce a generous donation of $10,557 from Shintech Louisiana, LLC, made possible through proceeds from the company’s annual golf tournament. This contribution will support the establishment of RPCC’s WorkKeys Assessment Program on the College’s Westside campus, expanding access to critical workforce readiness tools for students and jobseekers in the region.
“Shintech’s annual golf tournament is a testament to our shared commitment to the communities in which we live and work. Proceeds from the tournament are invested in outstanding local programs like the educational initiatives underway at RPCC and other efforts funded by the RPCC Foundation,” said Danny Cedotal, Shintech Louisiana, LLC’s Vice President of Manufacturing. “Our donation this year will support the establishment of RPCC’s WorkKeys program on its Westside campus, which will assist the campus in screening Process Technician applicants for work at companies like Shintech. Local students pursuing vocational programs are fueling Louisiana’s success, and we’re grateful to RPCC for its work to equip area talent for successful careers in industrial trades.”
The WorkKeys Assessment, developed by ACT, is a nationally recognized system that measures foundational and soft skills critical to workplace success. The assessment provides employers, such as Shintech, with an effective tool to identify qualified candidates, while offering students and jobseekers the opportunity to earn a portable, industry-recognized credential that validates their skills and readiness for employment.
Currently, RPCC utilizes WorkKeys assessments on its Gonzales campus. Shintech’s contribution will allow the College to extend this essential program to the Westside campus, ensuring that more students across the River Parishes region have equitable access to these career-advancing resources.
“Shintech continues to demonstrate what strong community partnership looks like,” said Tarie Roberson, Associate Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the RPCC Foundation. “Their ongoing commitment to workforce development directly impacts our students and strengthens the talent pipeline that fuels our local industries. This investment will not only expand access to essential tools like WorkKeys but also empower more students on our Westside campus to pursue rewarding careers right here in our region.”
Through partnerships like this, RPCC continues to build strong pathways between education and employment, empowering students to gain the skills needed to succeed in high-demand industries and supporting economic growth across the River Parishes region.
