River Parishes Community College (RPCC) is proud to announce the launch of two new Energy Sciences Division dual enrollment programs, expanding career-ready education into Iberville and St. John the Baptist parishes beginning Fall 2025. These programs will allow high school students to earn both their diploma and valuable industry credentials at the same time.
At RPCC’s Westside Campus, students from the Iberville Parish School System can now enroll in Instrumentation Technology, where they will have the opportunity to earn NCCER Levels 1 & 2 certifications and a Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) before graduating high school.
Meanwhile, RPCC’s Reserve Campus will host a new Early College Option program in Process Technology. Students from the St. John Parish School System can work toward earning an Associate of Applied Science in Process Technology—all while completing their high school diploma.
“These programs are a powerful investment in our future workforce,” said Dr. Donovan Thompson, Dean of Energy Sciences at RPCC. “By introducing students to industry-relevant training early, we’re giving them a competitive edge—college credits, credentials, and confidence.”
The expansion is part of RPCC’s ongoing mission to deliver high-quality, accessible workforce education across the region. Each program was developed in close partnership with local school systems, ensuring alignment with academic standards and regional industry needs.
“This is more than just a dual enrollment opportunity—it’s a head start on a career,” said Nicole Joseph, RPCC’s newest Associate Vice Chancellor over Dual Enrollment and Early College Option. “We’re preparing students for in-demand, high-wage jobs while reducing the time and cost it takes to get there.”
Students enrolled in these programs will graduate with:
· Industry-based certifications
· Stackable credentials
· Workforce readiness skills
· Enhanced job placement opportunities
The Energy Sciences Division team has worked hand-in-hand with K–12 partners through student recruitment, open houses, and curriculum development to ensure a successful launch this fall.
