RPCC Math Prep
The purpose of Math Prep is to assist students with basic secondary math skills and to prepare students for Math 98.
How Does Math Prep Work:
- Step 1: The student to complete an application with adult. Included with the application are a $25.00 fee, a copy of a state ID or driver’s license, and Accuplacer scores.
- Step 2: The student completes a Tabe assessment test for math. The math Tabe assessment test consist of two parts (a computation section and an applied math section).
- Step 3: Receive scores, advising from a WorkReadyU instructor, and setup a class schedule.
- Step 4: Attend class, complete required class hours and retest.
The amount of time a student spends in Math Prep depends on the student’s Tabe assessment scores and the student’s commitment to completing Math Prep. Students who score at a 9th grade equivalency or higher level receives 12 hours of prep. Students who score at a 8th grade equivalency of lower receives 40 hours of prep and a Tabe post-test.
Math Prep is completed when a student passes the Math Final. The Math Final is test created by the math department. It determines whether a student is prepared for Math 98.
