Course Scheduling – Advising

Orientation and Advising

Students who fall into one of the categories below may schedule classes only after being admitted to River Parishes Community College. If you haven’t yet applied to RPCC, you can apply online now. Once admitted, the Office of Student Services will notify students about the dates and process for scheduling classes.

Freshmen & First Time Transfer

The Office of Student Services notifies all first time freshmen and first time transfer students when they are eligible to begin the course registration process. All first-time students schedule classes when they participate in RPCC’s New Student Orientation (NSO) Program.  Students are encouraged to attend the on-campus NSO program, during which they create course schedules and receive parking stickers and ID cards.

For those students taking online only courses,  the NSO presentation and packet information is regularly updated here.

It is recommended that all test scores transfer work be submitted to the Office of Student Services prior to scheduled orientation date.

Returning and Currently Enrolled

Students that are currently enrolled, or are returning to RPCC should reach out to the Office of Student Services to schedule an advising appointment, or plan to attend Advising Week sessions each semester.

Dual Enrollment Students

Dually enrolled students, attending classes on RPCC’s campus, schedule classes by attending an advising session held either at an area high school or on RPCC’s campus. Contact your high school counselor for more information.
