Applying for Admission


Whether you are a Freshman, Transfer, Returning or Visiting student, this application is your place to start.

Freshman

An applicant who has never attended any college or university will be classified as a freshman applicant.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a freshman are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Student Services, P.O. Box 2367, Gonzales, LA 70707 to be considered for admissions:

If you attend a high school in Louisiana, and graduated after 2006, RPCC may be able to obtain your high school transcript from the Department of Education Student Transcript System (STS). Unaccredited Louisiana High School graduates, GED recipients, Louisiana High School graduates prior to 2006 and Home Study graduates must submit official proof of graduation or bring original diploma to the Office of Admissions.


Transfer Student

An applicant who has attended a college or university will be classified as a transfer applicant.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a transfer student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Student Services, P.O. Box 2367, Gonzales, LA 70707 :

For prior credit to be used at RPCC, it is also recommended that transfer students provide:

  • Official transcripts from all previously attended schools

Transfer applicants on suspension status from another institution are eligible to enroll: The credits earned at RPCC while the student is on suspension status from the suspending institution might not be accepted for degree credit at the suspending institution. Other colleges/universities are also unlikely to accept such credit.

Transfer applicants under active suspension at another LCTCS regional Community College will not be accepted to RPCC.


Re-Entry Student

An applicant who has previously attended River Parishes Community College, but whose enrollment was interrupted for a minimum of one fall or spring semester will be classified as a re-entry applicant.

Re-entry applicants will be admitted according to their academic standing when last enrolled at RPCC (and/or including work pursued at another college or university since their last enrollment at RPCC).

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a re-entry student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Student Services, P.O. Box 2367, Gonzales, LA 70707 to be considered for admissions:


Non-matriculating Student

An applicant who desires to take a limited number of courses for credit, but are not seeking a degree, is classified as a non-matriculating applicant.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a non-matriculating student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Student Services, P.O. Box 2367, Gonzales, LA 70707 to be considered for admissions:


Visiting Student (One Semester Only)

Students enrolled in another accredited college who are eligible to continue in that institution in the next regular semester or term and who are not on scholastic warning or probation may register as a Visiting Students for one semester or summer term only.

Students admitted on a visiting student basis who wish to be considered for regular admission must complete a new application for admission and must supply official transcripts of all college work previously taken.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a visiting student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Student Services, P.O. Box 2367, Gonzales, LA 70707 to be considered for admissions:


Auditing

An applicant who is desiring to take a limited number of courses for no credit is classified as an auditing applicant.

A student currently enrolled at RPCC may audit a course with the approval of an academic advisor.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as an auditing student should contact the Office of Student Services at studentservices@rpcc.edu or 225.743.8500.

 


Dual Enrollment

Students must be enrolled as a high school student and must have written approval from their high school and parents. These students must qualify to participate in the program.

For information on how to qualify and the admissions process for the Dual Enrollment Program, please contact your local High School or the Office of Student Services.


Cross Enrolled

RPCC has entered into Cross Enrollment Agreement with Nicholls State University, Southern University New Orleans, and Southeastern Louisiana University.

These agreements allow students to cross enroll in courses not available at the home institution and tuition is based upon the home institution’s rate.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a cross enrolled student should contact their home institution regarding admission requirements and process.

Students who are currently enrolled at RPCC that are interested in cross enrolling with another institution should contact the RPCC Office of Student Services for information.
