What is TRIO?
What is the Student Support Services Program?
We are a federally funded TRIO program designed to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.

Who qualifies to participate?
Eligibility for Student Support Services is determined by federal regulations. To qualify, a student must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident and meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be a first generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor's degree)
  • Have limited income (according to federal guidelines)
  • Have a documented disability
Mission
The mission of Student Support Services is to provide academic support services to students who are first generation, have limited income, or have disabilities, enabling them to persist and graduate and transfer from RPCC.
Why should I apply for TRIO?
TRIO is an opportunity to ensure your college success!

Participation in RPCC's Student Support Services program is limited to 140 students. SSS participants are twice as likely to graduate from college as their peers. Services provided by the program include:
  • Tutoring in Math and English
  • Assistance with basic study skills such as how to take notes, study for exams, manage time effectively, etc.
  • Personal, Academic, and Career Guidance
  • Transfer Assistance
  • Four-year College Tours
  • Cultural Activities
  • Advice/Assistance in Course Selection
  • Financial/Economic Counseling
  • Study/Technology Skill Workshops
  • Service Learning Opportunities
How to apply?
You may obtain an application from our office (E109), or download it here.

Once selected for the program, you will be required to participate in Student Support Services activities each semester (such as tutoring, student success workshops, and academic counseling). All services and requirements are designed to ensure your success at RPCC and beyond.

No, everything in the program is free!

We provide outstanding support, have great services that are free of charge, and you will be more likely to achieve your educational goals.

What will I be required to do?
Once you have been accepted in the program, you will be required to meet with an advisor and participate in activities each semester.

How long can I be a part of the program?
Until you graduate and/or transfer to another college. No need to apply annually.
