Freshman
Freshman - An applicant who has never attended any college or university will be classified as a freshman applicant.

To be eligible for admission, a freshman applicant must be a graduate of a state approved high school or possess a high school equivalency diploma received through the General Education Development Program (GED).

An applicant who does not possess a high school diploma from a state approved high school or GED, and who is at least 18 years of age may be considered for admission upon completion of diagnostic testing. This testing will be used to determine the applicant's ability to benefit from programs offered at River Parishes Community College.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a freshman are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:
  • Online Application
  • A $15 non-refundable application fee - check or money order made payable to RPCC
  • A completed Proof of Immunization Compliance form or Immunization Record
  • Proof of registration and status with the Selective Service (if applicable)
    (Persons required by law to register with the Selective Service must indicate Selective Service status by completing Item VII on the Application for Admission)
  • Official copy of High School Transcript (only for students who graduate before 2003) -or- Official Copy of GED Certificate
    GED Duplicate Request Form
  • Test scores: ACT test scores are used for placement purposes only; students are not required to submit ACT scores for admission. If a student does not submit ACT scores, then the student will take the COMPASS placement test at RPCC. ACT scores reported on the high school transcript or student copies of the scores are acceptable.
If you attend a high school in Louisiana, and graduated prior to 2003, RPCC may be able to obtain your high school transcript from the Department of Education Student Transcript System (STS). Unaccredited Louisiana High School graduates, GED recipients, Louisiana High School graduates prior to 2003 and Home Study graduates must submit official proof of graduation or bring original diploma to the Office of Admissions.


Transfer Student
Transfer - An applicant who has attended a college or university will be classified as a transfer applicant.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a transfer student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:
  • Online Application
  • A $15 non-refundable application fee - check or money order made payable to RPCC
  • A completed Proof of Immunization Compliance form or Immunization Record
  • Proof of registration and status with the Selective Service (if applicable)
    (Persons required by law to register with the Selective Service must indicate Selective Service status by completing Item VII on the Application for Admission)
  • Official transcript(s) from all universities and colleges attended.
Transfer applicants on suspension status from another institution: The credits earned at RPCC while the student is on suspension status from the suspending institution may not be accepted for degree credit at the suspending institution. Other colleges/universities are also unlikely to accept such credit.



Re-Entry Student
Re-entry - An applicant who has previously attended River Parishes Community College, but whose enrollment was interrupted for a minimum of one fall or spring semester will be classified as a re-entry applicant.

Re-entry applicants will be admitted according to their academic standing when last enrolled at RPCC (and/or including work pursued at another college or university since their last enrollment at RPCC).

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a re-entry student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:


Non-matriculating Student
Non-matriculating - An applicant who desires to take a limited number of courses for credit is classified as a non-matriculating applicant.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a non-matriculating student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:
  • Online Application
  • A $15 non-refundable application fee - check or money order made payable to RPCC
  • A completed Proof of Immunization Compliance form or Immunization Record
  • Proof of registration and status with the Selective Service (if applicable)
    (Persons required by law to register with the Selective Service must indicate Selective Service status by completing Item VII on the Application for Admission)
  • Official High School Transcript, if student has not attended any college -or- Transcript(s) from all universities and colleges attended, for placement purposes.


Visiting Student
Visiting (one-semester only) - Students enrolled in another accredited college who are eligible to continue in that institution in the next regular semester or term and who are not on scholastic warning or probation may register as a Visiting Students for one semester or summer term only.

Students admitted on a visiting student basis who wish to be considered for regular admission must complete a new application for admission and must supply official transcripts of all college work previously taken.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a visiting student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:
  • Online Application
  • A $15 non-refundable application fee - check or money order made payable to RPCC
  • A completed Proof of Immunization Compliance form or Immunization Record
  • Proof of registration and status with the Selective Service (if applicable)
    (Persons required by law to register with the Selective Service must indicate Selective Service status by completing Item VII on the Application for Admission)
  • A letter of good academic standing from current institution.
  • Unofficial transcript(s) for placement purposes.


Auditing
Auditing - An applicant who is desiring to take a limited number of courses for no credit is classified as an auditing applicant.

A student currently enrolled at RPCC may audit a course with the approval of an academic advisor.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as an auditing student are required to submit the following to RPCC Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 310, Sorrento. LA 70778 to be considered for admissions:
  • Online Application
  • A $15 non-refundable application fee - check or money order made payable to RPCC
  • A completed Proof of Immunization Compliance form or Immunization Record
  • Proof of registration and status with the Selective Service (if applicable)
    (Persons required by law to register with the Selective Service must indicate Selective Service status by completing Item VII on the Application for Admission)
  • Official High School Transcript, if student has not attended any college -or- Transcript(s) from all universities and colleges attended, for placement purposes.


Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment - Students must be enrolled as a high school student and must have written approval from their high school and parents. These students must qualify to participate in the program.

Cross Enrolled
Cross Enrolled - RPCC has entered into Cross Enrollment Agreement with Nicholls State University, Southern University New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the Louisiana Technical College - Region 9 campuses.

These agreements allow students to cross enroll in courses not available at the home institution and tuition is based upon the home institution's rate.

Students who would like to enter RPCC as a cross enrolled student should contact their home institution regarding admission requirements and process.

Students who are currently enrolled at RPCC that are interested in cross enrolling with another institution should contact the RPCC Office of Student Services for information.
